The Feast

Join us for an immersive afternoon at Virginia Truffles, where you’ll follow our skilled truffle dog as they track the elusive scent of black Périgord truffles beneath the oak trees. Guests will have the rare chance to unearth these hidden treasures and capture memorable photos with our four-legged team members.

The 2025–2026 Truffle Hunt season has ended. We look forward to hosting you during the 2026–2027 harvest season!

Our expert guides will introduce you to the art of truffle hunting—partnering with a trained dog, digging, and assessing ripeness.

Truffle Hunt & Dinner Experiences at Virginia Truffles are only offered during our black Périgord truffle harvest season (Tuber melanosporum), which runs from December through the end of February. Tickets for each season are released in September and often sell quickly due to limited availability.

Important Information

Experiences are exclusively offered during Virginia’s truffle harvest, December through February.

  • Hunt begins at 2:00 PM and lasts approximately 2 hours, followed by the farmhouse tasting and concluding with dinner at Hazel River Inn.

  • Dinner Hunt Experiences are limited to a maximum of 12 guests for an intimate and personal experience.

  • Dress for an active outdoor experience in the orchard—uneven terrain, cool weather, and mud are all possible. Boots, hats, and gloves are recommended.

  • Children: Welcome, but tickets should only be purchased for those able to responsibly participate in all activities.

  • Pets: For the safety of our working dogs, please leave your pets at home.

  • Dietary Restrictions: Please notify Virginia Truffles in advance for the hunt tasting. For dinner or accommodations, contact the Hazel River Inn at 540-937-5854.

  • Alcohol: Alcoholic beverages are only available to guests 21+ in accordance with Virginia law.

Our Hunt Policy

  • All reservations must be paid upfront.

  • Post hunt, truffle found is available for sale to attendees.

  • In the case of inclement weather, alternate hunt dates or a refund will be made available. 

  • Finally, a full refund, minus processing fees, will be available as long as the cancellation request is given 7 days prior to a scheduled hunt. A 50% refund will be given for any cancellation prior to 48 hours. This 48-hour courtesy allows us to fill your hunt slot. No refund is given for any cancellation after 48-hours prior to hunt.
